Doha, September 08 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has warned against normalizing the "no war, no peace" status in the region, saying the prolonged instability is draining the resources and the economic and developmental potentials of countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the repercussions extend beyond the region to impact the global economy, supply chains, and international economic stability.
The remarks came during the ministry's weekly media briefing by Director of Media and Communications Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hashmi, who outlined the State of Qatar's diplomatic and political efforts to help end the political deadlock and create appropriate conditions for resuming diplomatic tracks and dialogue between the concerned parties.
Al Hashmi affirmed that the State of Qatar continues actively and continuously to coordinate and work with its regional and international partners to revive the negotiation track and push towards political solutions, pointing in this context to the ongoing cooperation with the People's Republic of China concurrently with the visit undertaken by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, to the capital, Beijing.
He explained that the primary objective of these diplomatic moves and contacts is to resume the diplomatic track and put forward practical and balanced ideas that take into account the genuine concerns and apprehensions of all parties, contributing to creating an environment conducive to dialogue and enhancing the prospects of reaching sustainable solutions that address the roots of crises and ensure stability in the long term.
The Director of Media and Communications at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the success of any mediation efforts, initiatives, or proposed ideas remains linked, first and foremost, to the availability of political will among the concerned parties, affirming that returning to the dialogue table and adopting peaceful means to address crises remains the sole option capable of sparing the region further tension, escalation, and attrition, and opening the way for more stable and secure approaches that serve the interests of all the peoples of the region.
Regarding maritime navigation security and economic repercussions associated with regional developments, Al Hashmi affirmed that the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as an international waterway, represents a top priority for the State of Qatar and all countries of the region, given the vital importance the strait enjoys regarding global trade movement, energy supplies, and regional and international economies.
In response to a question regarding Iran citing a Qatari document to claim that its strikes were restricted to US military facilities, Al Hashmi revealed that the State of Qatar has sent hundreds of official letters and correspondence to both the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly, and that these letters documented officially and in detail the truth of the Iranian attacks that targeted the State of Qatar, clearly confirming that those attacks directly hit civilian and economic facilities inside the state.
He stated that these correspondences represent an official documented record before the international community, reflecting Qatar's stance based on transparency and recourse to international law and competent international institutions, ensuring the documentation of facts and placing the international community before its responsibilities regarding these violations.
Despite these developments, Al Hashmi stressed that the State of Qatar continues to approach crises from a balanced and responsible diplomatic vision, affirming that the current phase is not a time for exchanging accusations or shifting responsibilities, but rather calls for continuing dialogue and negotiations to anchor security and stability in the region.
He said that the current circumstance requires prioritizing the language of reason, diplomacy, and joint work in order to de-escalate tensions and create the conditions necessary to achieve security and stability, serving the interests of the peoples of the region and sparing them further crises and repercussions.
Regarding the Israeli statements describing Qatar as a "hostile state," the Director of Media and Communications at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the crimes of genocide committed by Israel and the field realities associated with its behavior in the occupied Palestinian territories completely shatter the repeated Israeli claims regarding being "the only democratic state in the Middle East" or possessing what it describes as a "moral army."
He pointed out that the State of Qatar has been subjected over past years to systematic smear campaigns and media and political targeting, yet these campaigns were refuted before the international community with facts and realities, as practical practices have proven that the State of Qatar is a responsible and trustworthy partner that adheres to international law and continues to perform its humanitarian and mediating role in a responsible and effective manner.
Al Hashmi affirmed that Israeli officials realize the nature of the responsible Qatari role and Doha's steadfast commitment to the endeavors of peace and stability, pointing out that the State of Qatar will not be affected or threatened by such statements that primarily target "domestic consumption," and will continue to perform its diplomatic and humanitarian role and its efforts aimed at preserving peace, security, and stability at both regional and international levels.
