Cairo, September 08 (QNA) - Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides, who is currently visiting Egypt, stressed the need to resolve the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, while rejecting the displacement of Palestinians. 
During the meeting, the Egyptian president reaffirmed his country’s firm position that establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region. 
For his part, the Cypriot president commended Egypt’s active role in supporting regional stability and its positive efforts to combat irregular migration, expressing his desire to continue coordination and consultations with Egypt in addressing shared challenges.
The talks also covered developments in several regional and international issues. The Egyptian president stressed the importance of de-escalating tensions in the region and restoring regional peace and stability, highlighting his country’s efforts in this regard. (QNA)
