LoginQatar's Import Unit Value Index Rises 3.43 Percent in Q2 of 2026
Doha, September 07 (QNA) - Qatar's Import Unit Value Index (IMUVI) reached 116 points in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 3.43 percent increase from the previous quarter (Q1 2026) and an 8.92 percent rise year on year compared to the corresponding quarter of 2025.
Issued by the National Planning Council (NPC), the Import Unit Value Index comprises 10 major groups classified according to the Standard International Trade Classification, Revision 4 (SITC Rev. 4).
According to NPC data, a comparison of the second quarter of 2026 with the first quarter of the year showed increases in nine groups. The largest increase was recorded in the Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles group, which rose by 6.78 percent, followed by Mineral Fuels, Lubricants and Related Materials, up 5.90 percent.
The Manufactured Goods Classified Chiefly by Material group increased by 4.93 percent, while Crude Materials, Inedible, Except Fuels rose by 4.83 percent. Machinery and Transport Equipment increased by 3.24 percent, followed by Chemicals and Related Products at 2.18 percent, Beverages and Tobacco at 2.15 percent, Food and Live Animals at 1.91 percent, and Animal and Vegetable Oils, Fats and Waxes at 0.96 percent.
Meanwhile, the Commodities and Transactions Not Classified Elsewhere in the SITC group declined by 8.66 percent.
On a year-on-year basis, the increase in the index in the second quarter of 2026, compared with the corresponding quarter of 2025, was attributed to higher values across all 10 major groups.
The Commodities and Transactions Not Classified Elsewhere in the SITC group recorded the largest annual increase, rising by 77.05 percent. It was followed by Mineral Fuels, Lubricants and Related Materials, which increased by 15.46 percent, and Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles, which rose by 9.50 percent.
The Manufactured Goods Classified Chiefly by Material group increased by 8.57 percent, while Machinery and Transport Equipment rose by 7.45 percent. Beverages and Tobacco increased by 6.23 percent, followed by Animal and Vegetable Oils, Fats and Waxes at 5.99 percent, Chemicals and Related Products at 5.24 percent, Food and Live Animals at 5.13 percent, and Crude Materials, Inedible, Except Fuels at 4.31 percent.
