Beirut, September 06 (QNA) - The fresh Israeli attacks on Nabatieh and its surrounding towns in southern Lebanon constitute a grave escalation that exceeds the repeated breaches and hampers the cessation-of-hostilities deal, Lebanese President Gen. Joseph Aoun said Sunday.
He added that these offensives resulted in the fall of innocent victims and incredibly caused damage to the Ministry of Finance building, in addition to decimating a hospital.
These attacks lay bare a blithe pattern of assaults that go beyond the alleged military targets to purely civilian departments and medical facilities, Aoun contended, stressing that these actions demonstrate a conspicuous intention to disrupt the operation of the nation's institutions and the daily interests of Lebanese.
As such, Aoun held the Israeli side fully responsible for this relentless escalation. He called on the United States and the international community to urgently act to halt these breaches and take the perpetrators to task.
Notwithstanding these assaults, Aoun assured that Lebanon is forging ahead with its obligations to protect its sovereignty and the safety of Lebanese citizens.
The Israeli warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes on Nabatieh and towns in its perimeter Sunday, resulting in the killing of four people and wounding 20 others, in addition to destroying homes and buildings and substantially damaging property, as well as public and commercial enterprises.
