LoginSyria Joins Digital Cooperation Organization as Damascus Eyes Digital Growth
Damascus, September 05 (QNA) - Syrian Telecommunications Minister Abdul Salam Haykal said on Saturday that Syria has joined the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) after signing the membership charter with the DCO's Secretary-General, Deemah AlYahya.
Posting on his X account, Haykal added that this participation would be effective in achieving Syria's interests, supporting its digital growth and unlocking new prospects for cooperation with the member states.
This approach was evident during the visit of the DCO's delegation to Damascus, along with its commitment to taking a closer look at the current phase, as well as the program for advancing the communications and technology sector that the Ministry is working on, Haykal highlighted.
He pointed out that Syria believes in DCO's goals of offering fair opportunities for all when it comes to the digital economy.
Earlier in September 2026, Haykal signed an agreement with DCO in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to reinforce cooperation in the domains of digital transformation, infrastructure and digital services in Syria, as well as to support technological cooperation and share expertise between both sides.
DCO was established in November 2020 during the G20 meeting, at the initiative of several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Pakistan. Its permanent headquarters is in Riyadh. (QNA)
