Qatar Opens Asian Men's Volleyball Championship Campaign with Loss to Thailand
Tokyo, September 05 (QNA) - Qatar's men's national volleyball team opened its campaign at the 2026 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship with a 3-0 loss to Thailand on Saturday in Kitakyushu, Japan.
Qatar lost 25-22, 25-19, 25-14 in its opening Group C match.
South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 in the other Group C match.
Qatar will face Chinese Taipei on Sunday in the second round of group-stage matches.
Qatar will look to bounce back and secure its first victory of the tournament against Chinese Taipei before concluding the group stage against South Korea on Sept. 8.
The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-place teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
Qatar is seeking to advance to the knockout stage and move beyond the group phase before competing at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan, which will be held from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4. (QNA)
