Nagoya, September 29 (QNA) - The Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 launched a promotional campaign on Sep. 20, 23 and 29 on the sidelines of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, currently being held in Japan through Oct. 4.
The promotional campaign, held at Bayt Qatar in Nagoya, attracted considerable interest and engagement from Bayt Qatar guests, who were introduced to key aspects of the fan experience awaiting them during the FIBA Basketball World Cup finals in Qatar in 2027.
The campaign aims to promote the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, which the State of Qatar will host for the first time in the Arab region and North Africa, and to showcase the Naismith Trophy to senior Olympic officials, prominent figures in Asian sport and visitors to Bayt Qatar, as well as Asian Games athletes and fans.
The campaign also seeks to attract supporters of Asian national teams that qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 in Doha. The fan experience represents a key pillar of the Organizing Committee's preparations, with the committee working to ensure that the Qatar 2027 experience extends beyond the games and competition inside the arenas.
Director General of the Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain explained that the campaign sought to capitalize on the significant international and continental presence at the Asian Games to promote the tournament and attract new fans from across Asia.
In a press statement, Al Buainain said the committee was looking forward to ensuring that the Qatar 2027 edition of the FIBA Basketball World Cup delivers organizational value and a sporting legacy comparable to the high standards established by the State of Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, while also providing an integrated fan and sporting experience.
He added that Qatar's hosting of the FIBA Basketball World Cup represents a historic milestone for the region, as it will become the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to host the global event. He described this as a great honor and a responsibility that the organizers were proud to undertake, and pledged to deliver a tournament that reflects Qatar's ability to host the world's largest sporting events. He also noted that all buildings and sports facilities are fully ready, while the working teams are finalizing their organizational, logistical and security plans.
For his part, Deputy Director General of the Organizing Committee of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Sheikh Tamim bin Fahad Al-Thani affirmed that the next phase would focus on strengthening the tournament's profile and engaging with basketball fans around the world.
He noted that as the event draws closer, the Organizing Committee is entering an important phase focused on strengthening communication with fans and increasing their engagement with the tournament. He said the committee's presence in Nagoya amid such a major Asian sporting gathering had provided an opportunity to engage directly with fans from different countries, introduce them to what awaits them at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar next year, and invite them to be part of the global experience.
He explained that the committee's ambition extends beyond delivering a successful tournament inside the arenas, as it seeks to make the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 a milestone that helps strengthen the presence of basketball and expand the sport's base of participants and followers across the Arab region and around the world.
