LoginGaza's Al Shifa Director Warns of Severe Medical Shortages
Gaza, September 03 (QNA) - Director of Al Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiya confirmed that 50 percent of basic pharmaceutical stock in the Gaza Strip has reached zero level, with over 300 types of essential medications for chronic diseases completely unavailable. Medical consumables face a critical 70 percent deficit, affecting around 550 items.
Speaking to press, Abu Salmiya highlighted an 80 percent shortage in laboratory supplies, alongside the total failure of critical diagnostic equipment, including X-ray, MRI, and CT scanners.
He warned that the severe lack of diagnostic and treatment tools is depriving patients and the wounded of life-saving care.
These warnings align with recent UN reports documenting critical shortages in drugs, medical supplies, and lab reagents.
A joint UN assessment revealed that more than half of Gaza's hospitals are completely out of service due to extensive damage to healthcare infrastructure. (QNA)
