Doha, September 26 (QNA) - Qatar National Library has concluded the third edition of its "Write to Inspire: Books and Authors" program, bringing together the nation's literary community to explore the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and writing.
Under the theme "Books and Authors in the Age of AI in Qatar," the program provided a platform for authors, publishers, and creative professionals to examine the profound impact of artificial intelligence on the publishing industry, both locally and on a global scale.
Moving beyond theoretical concepts, the event allowed participants to share their real-world experiences with modern AI tools. A key highlight of the morning was the presentation of a joint research paper titled "Gulf Novelists' Attitudes Toward the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Novel Writing," delivered by Dr. Lulwa Al Misned and Dr. Emad Abdul-Latif.
These themes took center stage during a panel discussion titled "The Book Industry in the Age of AI: Opportunities and Challenges". The panel facilitated deep conversations on the ethics and creative boundaries of AI-assisted writing, alongside the practical realities of integrating AI into publishing workflows. 
Expert insights were provided by CEO of Roza Publishing House, Dr. Aisha Jassim Al Kuwari; Qatari novelist and researcher, Dr. Faisal Al Ansari; Turki Kareem Al Shammari from the Ministry of Culture's Publications, Audio and Visual Media Department; and Dr. Hamdy Mubarak, Principal Software Engineer at the Qatar Computing Research Institute.
Adding a compelling layer to the discourse, Qatar Debate hosted an engaging debate session tackling the complex intersections of AI, publishing ethics, and authenticity. The debate centered on the following question: "Should a standardized, globally recognized label be required for all AI-generated content?"
Haya Al Sheeb, Senior Librarian at Qatar National Library, noted that the discussions come at a pivotal moment for Qatar's publishing industry. "AI is an active force reshaping how we cultivate and distribute knowledge, and our goal is to bridge traditional publishing practices with these emerging digital technologies," she said. "We want to ensure our authors and publishers are equipped to harness AI ethically and effectively, without ever losing the authentic human creativity that lies at the heart of every great book".
The "Write to Inspire" program reinforces Qatar National Library's ongoing commitment to supporting and advancing the local literary ecosystem. (QNA)
