Tokyo, September 26 (QNA) - Qatar's men's indoor volleyball team will begin its campaign at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, on Sunday, facing Hong Kong in Group C.

Qatar was drawn in Group C alongside India, Vietnam and Hong Kong, while Group A comprises Japan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Group B features Iran, Indonesia, Thailand and Kyrgyzstan, while Group D comprises South Korea, China, the Philippines and Chinese Taipei.

Qatar will look to make a strong start to the tournament and collect points that would strengthen its chances of advancing to the knockout stage, before facing Vietnam and India in the group stage.

The Qatari team held a training camp in Slovenia that included several friendly matches, with the aim of improving its physical and technical readiness and strengthening cohesion among the players ahead of its participation in the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, held in Japan from Sept. 4 to 13.

At the continental championship, Qatar played three Group C matches against Thailand, South Korea and Chinese Taipei.

Its participation provided an important stage in its preparations for the Asian Games, allowing the team to face strong opponents and gain further experience before competing at the Games.

Sixteen teams will compete in the men's volleyball tournament at the Asian Games. Qatar will face Hong Kong on Sunday, followed by Vietnam on Monday, before concluding its group-stage campaign against India on Tuesday. (QNA)
