New York, September 25 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has called for continued international support for Palestinians, stressing the need to address Gaza's humanitarian crisis and support recovery and reconstruction efforts.

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr Maryam bint Ali Al Misnad made the remarks at a ministerial meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for Coordination of International Aid to the Palestinian People (AHLC), held on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly.

Al Misnad said the ceasefire, alongside the 20-point plan for Gaza endorsed by the UN Security Council under Resolution 2803, had helped end large-scale fighting, facilitate the release of hostages and improve humanitarian access.

She said Qatar, together with Egypt, the United States and Turkiye, had worked through mediation efforts to reach the agreement and remained committed to supporting its implementation, including ensuring safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.

The minister said Gaza's humanitarian crisis was not over and that significant work remained to meet the needs of around two million people and create conditions for recovery and reconstruction.

Qatar has pledged $1 billion to the Board of Peace, she said, adding that Doha would continue coordinating its humanitarian and development efforts with the board and UN partners.

HE Al Misnad also addressed the situation in the occupied West Bank, condemning escalating settler violence against Palestinians and calling for accountability.

She called for the preservation of the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian holy sites.

Qatar also voiced opposition to settlement expansion, including plans related to the E1 area, measures concerning so-called "state lands", demolitions and forced displacement, and any steps towards annexation, saying such actions undermine international law and efforts towards a two-state solution.

Al Misnad reaffirmed Qatar's support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and its mandate established by the UN General Assembly, while calling for the protection of its personnel and facilities.

She reiterated Qatar's support for efforts towards a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy and a two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.

Qatar, she said, would continue working with international partners through the AHLC and other mechanisms to address the immediate and long-term needs of the Palestinian people and support their rights as part of efforts to promote regional and international peace and security. (QNA)
