Doha, September 24 (QNA) - Qatar Creates Talk hosted a public panel discussion featuring HE Chairperson of Qatar Museums Board of Trustees Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani and President of the Institut du monde arabe in Paris Anne-Claire Legendre, titled "Culture as Diplomat, How Cultural Institutions Shape International Relationships" at the Museum of Islamic Art.

Moderated by academic and author Dr. Safwan Masri, the discussion addressed how museums, exhibitions, and artistic partnerships deepen cross-cultural understanding and build sustainable ties beyond isolated events.

The session was organized in collaboration with Qatar Creates and the Arab World Institute, supported by the French Embassy in Qatar and the French Institute.

HE Sheikha Al Mayassa highlighted culture as a driver for human connection, noting that cultural dialogue persists even when political dialogue stalls.

"Culture starts at the point of curiosity. It allows you to want to discover the other person on a more humane level. Throughout history and even today, when political conversations cease to exist, cultural conversations can continue."

For her part, Legendre, the first woman to head the Arab World Institute since her appointment in February 2026, emphasized culture's ability to engage human emotion and foster mutual understanding across diverse perspectives.

The event forms part of the Fall/Winter 2026–2027 season of the "Qatar Creates" program, which brings together cultural leaders, artists, and intellectuals to explore the societal role of culture and encourage intergenerational idea exchange. (QNA)
