Beirut, September 23 (QNA) - Israeli attacks continued across southern Lebanon, with Israeli artillery shelling Wadi Zibqin in the Tyre District, The Lebanese National News Agency said.
The agency added that Israeli forces carried out a massive blast in the town of Khiam around midnight, with the powerful explosion reverberating across nearby towns, particularly Jdeidet Marjayoun and Qlayaa.
The blast caused extensive damage to a number of homes, shattering windows, dislodging doors and cracking walls as the force of the explosion shook surrounding communities.
The damage also extended to Marjayoun National College, where windows in many classrooms were shattered, prompting the school administration to temporarily suspend classes until repairs could be completed and the damaged glass replaced to safeguard students and faculty.
The damage underscored the sheer force of the explosion, whose effects extended to homes and other structures in towns facing Khiam.
Lebanon and Israel signed a US-brokered framework agreement in June that provides for security arrangements, including the phased deployment of the Lebanese army and the withdrawal of Israeli forces, as well as measures tied to reconstruction and economic recovery.
Implementation of the agreement, however, continues to face obstacles. (QNA)
