Doha, September 23 (QNA) - The Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, affiliated with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), honored Qatar National Library (QNL) for its outstanding contributions to preserving, safeguarding, and providing access to manuscript heritage as part of Arab Manuscript Day celebrations.
The honoring took place during a ceremony in Tunis, attended by QNL Executive Director Tan Huism and Director of Research and Learning Services Abeer Al Kuwari. 
On the sidelines of the event, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance joint cooperation, exchange expertise, and preserve Arab documentary heritage.
Tan Huism stated that manuscripts serve as crucial historical witnesses that preserve the collective memory and intellectual contributions of the Arab and Islamic worlds, affirming QNL's commitment to expanding global access to these resources.
Al Kuwari outlined QNL's comprehensive preservation framework, from ethical acquisition and cataloging to digitization, highlighting its role as the IFLA Regional Center for Preservation and Conservation in the Arab region and Middle East in building regional capacity and supporting scientific research.
