Doha Arbitration Days 2026 Opens with Focus on Arbitration, Dispute Resolution
Doha, September 20 (QNA) - The third edition of Doha Arbitration Days opened Sunday, bringing together leading experts and specialists in arbitration and dispute resolution from Qatar, the region and around the world.
The two-day event is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Center, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) - Qatar Branch.
The conference addresses a range of pressing issues, from the relationship between courts and arbitration to challenges facing contracts, projects and supply chains in force majeure circumstances, as well as the evolving role of arbitration institutions and their ability to adapt to emerging trends.
In his opening remarks, HE Eng. Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi, Chair of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb) - Qatar Branch, said Doha Arbitration Days had become an annual forum bringing together judges, arbitrators, lawyers, experts and representatives of arbitration institutions from Qatar, the region and the wider international community.
He said the value of the platform extended beyond bringing participants together to fostering lasting professional ties, encouraging practical cooperation and ensuring the continued exchange of knowledge and expertise beyond the conference.
On professional development, Dr. Al Muhannadi said the institute was committed to expanding cooperation with the public and private sectors. He noted that it had delivered two training programs this year for more than 20 participants from over 10 government and private-sector entities and was working to develop regular programs serving professionals across various sectors.
He stressed that investing in professional skills and standards directly contributed to strengthening and advancing Qatar's dispute resolution environment, which required coordinated efforts among the judiciary and legal practitioners, government institutions and the private sector, as well as stronger ties with the regional and international legal community.
For his part, Eng. Mohammed Elayyan, Vice Chair and Director of Education and Training at the Ciarb Qatar Branch and Event Director of Doha Arbitration Days, said the success of the third edition reflected sustained institutional efforts over the years to promote knowledge, build professional capabilities and advance arbitration and dispute resolution in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Center.
Elayyan said Doha Arbitration Days had established itself as a prominent annual forum on the arbitration calendar in Qatar and the region, while attracting growing interest from the international professional community.
He noted that the forum went beyond bringing specialists together, addressing issues of direct relevance to practitioners and the business sector and examining developments shaping the present and future of arbitration.
He said this year's edition was distinguished by the scale and diversity of participation, with judicial and legal leaders, representatives of arbitration institutions and centers, as well as arbitrators, lawyers, experts and practitioners from Qatar, the region, Europe and Africa taking part. He added that the diverse participation brought together a broad range of expertise and experience, while providing a platform for dialogue and professional networking.
Elayyan further said the institute believed that advancing arbitration could not be achieved through conferences alone, but required an integrated system encompassing education, continuous training, knowledge transfer and higher professional standards.
He expressed hope that future editions would expand the conference program to include more workshops and specialized training programs in cooperation with professional bodies, arbitration centers and law firms, further enhancing Qatar's regional and international standing in the field. (QNA)
