Doha, September 02 (QNA) - The World Health Organization (WHO) has formally designated Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Employee Wellbeing and Wellness Section within the Human Resources Department as the world's first WHO Collaborating Center for employee wellbeing and Workplace Health.
The designation is effective for four years and represents a significant institutional achievement for HMC. As a WHO Collaborating Center, HMC's Employee Wellbeing and Wellness Section will work closely with WHO to advance evidence-based approaches to supporting the health and wellbeing of healthcare workers and creating healthier workplaces.
Mona Shaheen Al Homaiddi, Chief Human Resources Officer at HMC, said: "This designation is a proud achievement for HMC and the State of Qatar. It reflects the strength of our evidence-based wellbeing program, the capability of our people and the commitment of HMC's leadership to protecting the health and wellbeing of our workforce.
"We are honoured to take on this responsibility and look forward to working closely with WHO to share our experience and expertise, support the development of healthier workplaces and contribute to stronger support for healthcare workers in Qatar and internationally."
The scope of the WHO Collaborating Center will focus on three key areas:
To support WHO's efforts in developing and promoting policies, strategies and protocols for mental health and workplace wellbeing in healthcare settings.
To support WHO in building capacity for implementing workplace health and wellbeing interventions for healthcare workers through knowledge exchange and training.
To support WHO's country-level activities on workplace health and wellbeing for health workers.
The designation follows several years of focused development by HMC's Employee Wellbeing and Wellness Section, including close technical engagement with WHO and the implementation of a comprehensive wellbeing model aligned with the WHO Healthy Workplace framework.
This prestigious recognition sees HMC's Employee Wellbeing and Wellness Section join HMC's other WHO Collaborating Centers: Hamad Trauma Center, a WHO Collaborating Center on Trauma, and the Department of Geriatrics and Long-Term Care, the WHO Collaborating Center for Healthy Ageing and Dementia.
The achievement also builds on international recognition already received by HMC's employee wellbeing programme from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, the Global Centre for Healthy Workplaces and the International Hospital Federation. These recognitions reflect the quality, consistency and measurable impact of HMC's approach to employee wellbeing and workplace health. (QNA)
