Paris, September 17 (QNA) - French President Emmanuel Macron and his Lebanese counterpart, General Joseph Aoun discussed the situation in Lebanon amidst ongoing Israeli aggression.
According to a statement issued by the Lebanese Presidency, the two sides reviewed the situation in Lebanon in light of recent developments and Israeli attacks on Lebanese villages and towns. They also discussed efforts to halt these attacks, considering the Lebanese-US-Israeli negotiations and the framework agreement signed during that process.
During the talks, the Lebanese President presented an overview of developments in southern Lebanon and the post-UNIFIL phase.
The discussions also addressed progress made in formulating UN Security Council proposals regarding the future of the international presence in the south, aiming to align with the diplomatic track and prevent a vacuum following the expiration of UNIFIL's mandate.
Additionally, the two sides explored avenues for cooperation across various sectors, including the economy and energy. (QNA)
