Cairo, September 16 (QNA) - The Arab League has strongly denounced an attempt to target Makkah Al Mukarramah with a drone.
Any threat to the security of Makkah Al Mukarramah and the sanctity of Islamic holy sites is a matter of grave concern, stressed Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy in a statement Wednesday.
Such acts pose a threat to the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the safety of its citizens, residents, and pilgrims, in addition to being a provocation to Muslims around the world, he highlighted.
Fahmy added that this development comes amid continued escalation by the Houthi group, including attacks in recent days targeting the Kingdom's territory, facilities and civilian objects, which exacerbate regional tensions and threaten the security and stability of the Middle East.
The Secretary-General expressed the Arab League's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures the Kingdom takes to protect its territory and security and safeguard the sanctity of Islamic holy sites. (QNA)
