Doha, September 14 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by its Department of Chemicals and Hazardous Waste, held the first forum on the safe disposal of hazardous health care waste on Monday, with the aim of strengthening compliance with environmental requirements governing the health care sector.

Director of the Department of Chemicals and Hazardous Waste, Dr. Mohammad Ayed Al Shammari, said the forum reflects the ministry's commitment to promoting safe practices and reducing the environmental impact of improper handling of medical waste.

Dr. Al Shammari said the event provides an effective platform for exchanging expertise and reinforcing shared responsibility for sustainable waste management that protects the environment and public health in the country.

On the sidelines of the forum, a high-level coordination meeting was held with the Ministry of Public Health to discuss efforts to unify joint initiatives and apply the best international standards for handling hazardous waste.

The event concluded with honors for the participating lecturers in recognition of their contributions to environmental and public awareness. (QNA)
