Oman's Inflation Rate Reaches 3.4 Percent

Muscat, September 13 (QNA) - Oman's inflation rate reached 3.4 percent in August, compared with the same month in 2025.

Data from the Consumer Price Index released Sunday by Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that average inflation for January-August 2026 was 2.9 percent. The transport group recorded the highest annual increase, at 8.5 percent, followed by food products at 7 percent and miscellaneous goods and services at 6.1 percent.

Prices in the restaurants and hotels group rose 3.6 percent, while prices for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance increased 3.1 percent. Education prices rose 2.2 percent, health prices 1.7 percent, culture and recreation prices 0.4 percent, and clothing and footwear prices 0.1 percent.

Prices in the communications group were unchanged from August last year, while prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels fell 0.6 percent. (QNA)
