Qatar University Wraps 1st Joud Charity Festival with Strong Community Participation
Doha, September 10 (QNA) - Qatar University has concluded the activities of the Joud Charity Festival, held under the theme "Empowering Education, Building the Future," with strong community participation and approximately 10,000 visitors attending the event.
The festival was organized in support of the Joud Fund, which is dedicated to supporting Qatar University students, while promoting a culture of giving, social responsibility and community solidarity.
Assistant Vice President for Student Experience at Qatar University, Dr. Mohammed Shaheen Al Kuwari said the Joud Festival reflected the values of solidarity, generosity and support for students. He noted that the success of the inaugural edition demonstrated the community's belief in the fund's mission and its willingness to contribute to empowering students and helping them complete their academic journeys.
He praised the strong engagement with the festival, which featured the participation of more than 20 projects and supporting entities, and commended the efforts of sponsors, partners and volunteers who contributed to its success and helped create a lasting positive impact on the lives of beneficiary students.
For her part, Director of Student Services at Qatar University, Kholoud Al Otaibi said the festival represented a successful model of community solidarity and cooperation in support of students. She noted that the scale of participation and engagement reflected the community's belief in the importance of investing in education and empowering students to continue their academic journeys.
She highlighted that the festival's achievements in terms of attendance, revenues and community support underscored the university's success in promoting the concept of sustainable giving and strengthening the impact of the Joud Fund for student support as one of the initiatives aimed at empowering students academically and socially.
The festival featured a wide range of community, entertainment and cultural activities, including the Joud Market, which brought together more than 20 local projects by entrepreneurs. The market showcased a variety of products, collectibles and gifts, alongside games and interactive activities catering to visitors of different age groups.
The festival was organized in cooperation with a number of entities from within and outside the university, with the participation of several partners and sponsors, including Store 974 Electronics, the Qatar Racing and Motorcycle Federation, Gamers Station, and the Qatar University Esports Club. These partners contributed a range of activities and interactive experiences in support of the festival's objectives.
The College of Education at Qatar University also participated by showcasing and selling student artwork, as well as organizing art workshops and live-painting sessions. The activities provided students with opportunities to showcase their creativity, develop their entrepreneurial skills and contribute to community initiatives on campus.
The revenues, proceeds and donations generated through the festival's activities contributed to the Joud Fund for student support at Qatar University, reflecting the university's commitment to strengthening social responsibility and providing a supportive environment for its students. (QNA)
