Amman, September 09 (QNA) - Qatar's Hassan Mansour captured the silver medal in the junior men's +76kg division at the 24th Asian Karate Championships for Cadets, Juniors and Under-21 athletes, currently underway in Amman, Jordan, through Sept. 11.
Mansour reached the podium after a demanding run of high-level bouts, delivering a strong performance that showcased his technical and physical readiness while holding his own against some of Asia's top competitors. He ultimately secured second place after a determined campaign marked by focus and an indomitable spirit.
President of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation (QTJKF) Eid Ali Al Meraikhi hailed Mansour's feat, saying the silver medal underscores how the athlete and the technical and administrative staffs have been working hard and reflects the steady evolution of Qatari karate.
This feat is dedicated to HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani for his powerful support of the sport, Al Meraikhi told the Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Al Meraikhi applauded Mansour's standout continental feat and his performance throughout the championship, saying the medal offers a critical boost for Mansour and his national-team teammates as they continue to develop their performance.
It also demonstrates the progress of Qatari karate and the continued focus on developing athletes ahead of major continental and global competitions, he said.
Al Meraikhi added that the federation looks forward to building on this positive momentum throughout the tournament, especially with competition still underway.
He remarked that Abdulrahman Mustafa will compete Thursday in the Under-21 men's -60kg division, hoping that he will deliver a performance that reflects the continued evolution of Qatari karate.
  Qatar is represented at the championship by Mustafa in the Under-21 -60kg division and Mansour in the junior men's +76kg division. The delegation is headed by Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation Rashid Al Hajri.
Mustafa is set to begin his competition Thursday, with Qatar aiming to add another medal to its haul.
The 24th Asian Karate Championships feature competition in kata and kumite across the cadet, junior and Under-21 divisions, bringing together athletes from across Asia in one of the continent's premier age-group competitions. 
The championship features 338 athletes from 30 countries competing over four days at Arena Hall in Al Hussein Youth City. (QNA)
