Doha, September 10 (QNA) - Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has achieved a new milestone at the Arab level by winning the Platinum Award for Patient-Centred Care as part of the 7th Edition of the Gold Initiative Certificate Awards, organized by the Arab Hospitals Federation under the theme "Pioneers of Arab Healthcare Excellence."
The award recognizes HMC's performance in enhancing the quality of healthcare services and advancing the patient experience. HMC was ranked first in the Arab world in healthcare and patient experience, having received the highest evaluation among the healthcare institutions assessed under the awards program. HMC received the Platinum Classification, the highest classification within the program, and ranked first in the field of patient-centered care, making HMC the leading healthcare institution among those participating in this field across the Arab region.
The Platinum Classification Award was presented to Dr Khalid Mohammed Al Jalham, Chief Medical Officer at Hamad Medical Corporation, in the presence of Nasser Al Naimi, Chief Executive Officer of Patient Experience at HMC and Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, and Chief Executive Officer of Quality and Patient Safety at HMC Dr. Jamila Al Ajami. The Gold Initiative Certificate recognizes healthcare institutions that demonstrate excellence according to rigorous regional and international standards.
This year's program attracted 332 submissions. Institutions that successfully passed the assessment process were recognized following a comprehensive evaluation conducted in collaboration with international partners, including the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the Beryl Institute, and the Global Healthcare Travel Council.
Commenting on the award, Dr. Al Jalham said: "We are honored to receive this recognition from the Arab Hospitals Federation. This achievement reflects HMC's longstanding commitment to placing patients at the center of everything we do, as well as the dedication of our staff to delivering compassionate, person-centered care. We remain committed to ensuring that patients and their families are active partners in the care journey, with their experience, dignity, and needs guiding every decision, service, and interaction across HMC. This recognition reinforces our commitment to continuously enhancing the quality of care and the patient experience across our healthcare system."
Meanwhile, Al Naimi added that "this recognition demonstrates the progress we have made in strengthening person-centered care across our hospitals and services and our commitment to continually improving the experience of our patients and their families. We will continue to build on this achievement by strengthening opportunities for patients and families to share their experiences and contribute to how we improve care across HMC."
For his part, Dr. Al Ajmi said that "this award is a significant achievement for HMC and reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and quality in every aspect of care. Patient-
centeredness is an essential part of delivering safe, effective and high-quality healthcare, and this recognition reinforces the importance of embedding the patient and family perspective into our quality improvement efforts. We are proud of the progress made across HMC and remain focused on continually raising the standard of care and experience for our patients and families."
As Qatar's main provider of specialist healthcare services, HMC has embedded person-centered care throughout its network of hospitals and community-based services, ensuring that patient experience, dignity, compassion and partnership are fundamental to healthcare delivery. HMC's person-centered care approach combines patient partnership, digital innovation and service improvement initiatives to enhance the experience and outcomes of patients and families. Initiatives include the Patient and Family Advisory Council, where HMC actively involves patients and families in service improvement through its Patient and Family Advisory Council, with 80 members contributing to service design, policy development and recruitment processes.
There is also the Digital Services. The Lbaih mobile app, with more than 400,000 downloads, and HMC's specialist helplines, provide over one million consultations annually, have improved access to care and enhanced the patient experience.
And in terms of innovation, HMC continues to introduce innovative solutions, including virtual reality technology for children undergoing surgery, which has reduced anxiety levels by around 60 percent and achieved 100 percent family satisfaction. (QNA)
