Muscat Stock Exchange Index Rises for Second Consecutive Week

Muscat, August 08 (QNA) - The benchmark index of the Muscat Stock Exchange extended its gains for a second consecutive week, supported by increases in a number of leading stocks across the listed sectors.
The index gained around 90 points over last week's trading, following a 160-point increase in the previous week, closing at 7,367 points.
Stock prices rose for 43 companies, while 25 companies remained unchanged, and 27 companies declined. The Services Sector Index led the sectoral gains, rising 2.1 percent, or 61 points, to close at 2,951 points.
The Financial Sector Index also gained 42 points, while the Sharia Index rose by around 8 points. The Industrial Sector Index, meanwhile, declined by 24 points.
In terms of trading activity, the market capitalization of the Muscat Stock Exchange increased by approximately OMR 246.5 million, reaching OMR 37.829 billion at the close of the week.
Trading value also rose by 3.3 percent to OMR 264.5 million, compared with OMR 255.9 million in the previous week, while the number of executed transactions exceeded 44,000. (QNA)
