Doctors Without Borders Sounds Alarm Over Ebola Outbreak in DRC Ahead of WHO Chief's Visit
Geneva, August 05 (QNA) - The outbreak of Ebola virus in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has become more dangerous than ever, said Doctors Without Borders on Wednesday.
In a statement, the organization pointed out that the virus is spreading at an alarming and unprecedented rate, despite medical field personnel making every effort.
This development coincides with the visit of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to Kinshasa, where he is set to meet government officials and humanitarian organizations to discuss ways to foster efforts to contain this fatal disease.
Meanwhile, WHO reaffirmed the need to step up surveillance and alert measures, especially with population movements and the threat of contagion across borders. (QNA)
