US Athlete Allyson Felix Opts for Aspire Academy to Prepare for Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games
Doha, August 05 (QNA) - US track and field star Allyson Felix is preparing to compete in the 2028 Olympic Games, which will be hosted by her hometown of Los Angeles, starting from Aspire Academy in Doha, which she opted for as a training base ahead of her comeback to competition.
Felix, 42, has set participation in the Games as a primary goal after announcing a return to track events last April, following four years of retirement.
The Olympic champion, who has won seven Olympic gold medals, chose Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence as one of the best training destinations to prepare for the comeback, capitalizing on its sophisticated sports facilities and top-tier athlete preparation programs.
The American runner said she has been visiting Qatar for many years and that every visit has brought a profoundly warm welcome, underlining her familiarity with the amazing sports facilities at Aspire Academy, which she described as truly the best place in the world to train.
It is important for Aspire Academy to be part of my journey, Felix said, affirming work to regain full fitness at this new stage of life.
The American athlete stressed confidence in finding everything needed there.
Felix, who specializes in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter events, also explained that curiosity was the driving force behind the decision to return to competition after turning 40, with the aim of competing in 2027 before reaching the 2028 Olympic Games.
The athlete continued that it is really about curiosity and that the goal is not to become the athlete she was in the past, but to explore what is still possible, especially since hometown Los Angeles is hosting the Olympics.
The goal is to make the team, and I hope to be part of the relay team, Felix underscored.
Aspire Academy reaffirms its position as a leading and trusted destination for elite athlete training by hosting Allyson Felix as part of the preparation program for an Olympic comeback, while also providing the academy’s student-athletes with the opportunity to benefit from the experience and inspiration of one of the greatest track and field legends in history.
