German Police Defuse Drone Carrying Explosive Device at Leipzig/Halle Airport
Berlin, August 05 (QNA) - German police experts managed to defuse a drone carrying an explosive device at Leipzig/Halle Airport in eastern Germany.
The Saxony police said specialists removed the detonator from the explosive device, whose type hasn't yet been identified.
State authorities don't rule out a politically motivated motive behind the incident, which explains the involvement of the Counterterrorism Center in the investigation, noting that the airport is considered critical infrastructure.
A second unidentified object also collided with a cargo aircraft after the plane was forced to take off again due to the runway closure earlier. After landing in Hanover, minor damage was detected on the aircraft.
A police spokesman said investigations are underway to determine whether there is a link between the two incidents, confirming that there is no immediate danger at the moment. (QNA)
