Attended by President of Qatar University, Dr. Omar Al Ansari the event aims to familiarize new and first-year students with university life and help them navigate the campus, as well as the services and resources available to them. The initiative is designed to prepare students for this new stage of their academic journey and support their integration into the university environment from the outset.
The event features a range of informational and interactive activities, along with opportunities for students to meet directly with representatives from Academic Advising, as well as various university departments, units, and centers. This enables students to become familiar with the offices and services available to support them throughout their university journey and to connect directly with the relevant teams.
Assistant Vice President for Admission and Enrollment, Nouf Al Kuwari said that Hayyakom represents an important milestone at the beginning of first-year students' university experience.
"Hayyakom provides students with an opportunity to become familiar with the University and the support services available to them, helping them transition into university life with greater clarity and confidence," she said.
She emphasized the University's commitment to ensuring that students' first experience at Qatar University is a positive one that strengthens their sense of confidence and belonging.
Director of the Academic Advising Center, Dr. Nora Al Suhailawi said that "Hayyakom 2026" is designed to give students a comprehensive overview of university life by introducing them, from their very first day, to the University's facilities, departments, and services available to them.
She noted that the participation of various support units and departments provides students with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with specialists, gain a better understanding of their roles, and learn about the services they provide. This, she said, will help students make more informed decisions and take more purposeful steps throughout their university journey.
"Hayyakom 2026" is supported by a number of organizations, including Snoonu and HSBC, alongside the participation of a range of Qatar University units, centers, and affiliated entities. This reflects the importance of coordinated efforts in providing new students with a comprehensive and welcoming orientation experience.
The event also features a variety of interactive and recreational activities, as well as opportunities to win gifts, offering students an engaging experience that combines an introduction to university services with opportunities to connect with the wider University community in a welcoming atmosphere.
"Hayyakom 2026" forms part of Qatar University's broader efforts to enrich the student experience, encourage active participation in university life, and support students' integration into the campus community. The initiative aligns with the University's strategic direction and 2023–2030 strategy and contributes to realizing the Human Development Goals of Qatar Natioal Vision 2023. (QNA)
