Doha, August 30 (QNA) - The Aspire Zone Foundation has wrapped up the 1st edition of its "Run the Dome" race.

Held inside the Aspire Dome on Friday and Saturday, 28–29 August, the event saw broad participation and interest from members of the community of various ages and nationalities.

The event featured four main category competitions: the open women's race, the open men's race, the Qatari women's race, and the Qatari men's race.

Each group consisted of 20 participants who competed on a 4.8-kilometre course spanning five laps inside the Aspire Dome. Each race lasted 30 minutes, with a 10-minute break between groups to prepare participants for the following race. Winners in each category were determined based on the fastest recorded times.

The event was designed as a community sporting experience accessible to people with varying levels of fitness, allowing participants to take on a unique sporting challenge inside one of the world's leading indoor sporting facilities.

"Run the Dome" had a total prize purse of QAR 60,000, distributed equally across the four categories. The winner in each category received QAR 7,000, whereas the runner-up received QAR 5,000 while the third-place finisher received QAR 3,000.

Success was not limited to securing the top positions, as completing the race and crossing the finish line was an achievement in itself. All participants who completed the race received commemorative medals in recognition of their participation in the inaugural edition of the event.

Acting Director General of Aspire Logistics, Nasser Abdullah Al Hajri congratulated the winners and participants in "Run the Dome" and commended their outstanding performance and determination.

The event concluded on a spectacular note, reflecting the tremendous effort and cooperation involved in making this event a success, Al Hajri said. The Aspire Zone Foundation is proud of this achievement and of its contribution to providing an exceptional and safe sporting experience for all participants.

In turn, Executive Director of Facilities and Events at Aspire Zone Foundation, Ahmed Mohammed Al Hassan, who is the event's director, said that "Run the Dome" is a valuable addition to the Aspire Zone Foundation's sporting calendar.

He expressed delighted at the strong turnout and said that the event seeks to promote a culture of sport and physical activity.

Al Hassan said that he looks forward for the future editions of "Run the Dome". (QNA)
