Doha, August 29 (QNA) - The curtain fell Saturday evening on the preliminary races of the 2026 third Summer Festival for Purebred Arabian Camels, with the staging of the fifth and final preliminary race, showcasing fierce competition for qualification spots in the final race.
The race featured strong competition across 25 races for female and male camels, amid a highly competitive atmosphere and heightened rivalry among camel owners from Qatar and various GCC states.
In the first main race for female camels, the winner clinched the title with a time of 2:53.00 minutes.
The second main race for male camels was also fiercely contested, with the winner finishing in 2:51.59 minutes, while the second- and third-place finishers clocked 2:52.21 and 2:53.19 minutes, respectively.
With the curtain falling on the fifth preliminary race, the Festival has now reached the final stage of its multi-day preliminary rounds packed with fierce competition.
The races showcased a host of promising names and bloodlines that will compete in the festival's final race, which is reserved exclusively for camels finishing among the top 10 in all qualifying races.
The Festival builds on the successes of previous editions and serves as an important platform for camel owners and trainers to compete in fiercely contested races during the summer season, in an atmosphere that reflects the depth of Qatar's enduring sporting and cultural heritage in camel racing.
