Doha, August 29 (QNA) - The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to move beyond mere verbal condemnation and take concrete and deterrent political, legal, and economic measures commensurate with the gravity of the ongoing crimes committed by the occupation and settlers in the occupied West Bank.
In a press statement issued today, the ministry condemned the escalation of occupation crimes in the West Bank, particularly the siege of the village of Al-Mughayyir, including the closure of its entrances, the indiscriminate targeting of residents, and the provision of protection, weapons, and coordination for settler attacks against the villagers. The Ministry called for urgent international action to protect the villagers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the continued fueling of terrorism, extremism, and racism, coupled with the arming, protection, and political and legal cover provided to settlers, is creating an escalating situation whose repercussions may become difficult for any party to control. This necessitates urgent international intervention to halt this trajectory.
The statement stressed the need for the international community to act urgently to provide international protection for the Palestinian people; activate international jurisdiction and judicial authority to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes and ensure that they do not escape punishment; take practical measures to prevent the entry of settlement products into international markets. It also called for stopping all forms of trade, investment or support that contribute to consolidating the settlement project; holding accountable the entities and companies that provide settlers with weapons, funding or protection or any form of support; working to end the Israeli occupation of the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem; and enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate national rights, foremost among them their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 lines with Jerusalem as its capital.
