Doha, August 27 (QNA) - Al Rayyan defeated Al Wakrah 2-1 on Thursday in Week 2 of the 2026-2027 Doha Bank Stars League.
Roger Guedes opened the scoring for Al Rayyan in first-half stoppage time, while Amine Zouhzouh equalized for Al Wakrah in the 73rd minute. Substitute Ahmed Alaa scored the winner in the 89th minute.
The victory lifted Al Rayyan to six points and temporarily to the top of the standings, while Al Wakrah remained on one point.
Al Rayyan dominated the first half and took the lead just before the break, while Al Wakrah relied mainly on crosses but struggled to break through the organized defense.
Al Wakrah leveled after a mistake by Al Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada, but Al Rayyan pressed late on and Ahmed Alaa sealed their second consecutive victory. (QNA)
