Doha, August 25 (QNA) - The Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA), under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, is organizing a new package of sports activities and programs dedicated to women and girls, as part of the Sports for All calendar, with the aim of enhancing sports participation and expanding the base of female participants from different age groups, in recognition of the role of women in society and in an effort to involve the largest possible number of them in sports activities.
The Federation explained that the activities include the "Ladies' Evening", held every Tuesday at Education City Stadium in cooperation with Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and includes competitions in volleyball, basketball, physical fitness and badminton.
The Federation also intends to organize a series of summer races for women and girls, to be held at the Aspire Indoor Track on September 18 and 25 and October 2 and 9, with distances varying according to age groups.
QSFA's Executive Director Abdullah Al Dosari stressed the importance of women's sports and the need to involve women in the community sports system and accommodate different age groups, pointing out that the Federation organized around 38 various championships and activities during the summer period, aimed at enhancing women's participation in sports and community activities.
Al Dosari added that the Federation aims to establish a culture of sports practice through gradual and well-studied programs suitable for different age groups, and to provide a safe and motivating environment that takes into account women's privacy and contributes to embodying the vision and plans of the Ministry of Sports and Youth in the field of expanding the base of sports participation in society.
He affirmed the importance of opening the opportunities for the largest possible number of women and girls to engage in these programs, which promote public health and increase rates of sports and physical activity. (QNA)
