Egypt Welcomes US Move to Remove Syria From List of State Sponsors of Terrorism
Cairo, August 25 (QNA) - Egypt on Tuesday welcomed the US move to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, considering it a step that would help support efforts toward stability, economic recovery and reconstruction.
It added that the move would unlock prospects for Syria's return to playing a role on the Arab and international periphery.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry called for continued support for the people of Syria during this phase, thereby helping the Syrian state restore recovery and reinforce its national institutions.
This support, the statement said, would safeguard Syria's unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, in addition to achieving its people's aspirations for security, stability and development.
It stressed that respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity is a pillar of achieving enduring stability both in the country and the region. (QNA)
