Login25th Scientific Symposium of GCC History and Archaeology Association Opens in Oman
Muscat, August 24 (QNA) - The 25th Scientific Symposium of the GCC History and Archaeology Association opened Monday.
Hosted by Oman, the three-day event brings together 180 members of workforces and those interested in the archaeology sector from inside and outside Oman.
Participants will present 30 research papers examining Gulf history, the region’s heritage and culture across different historical periods, drawing on findings from field surveys and archaeological studies while also highlighting the region’s civilizational, intellectual, economic and social dimensions.
HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage Eng. Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Kharousi said the hosting reflects the ministry's commitment to supporting scientific research, strengthening awareness of the civilizational legacy and providing specialists with an opportunity to share expertise.
The symposium is a chance to explore recent discoveries, with the scientific gathering opening broader avenues for research cooperation on the legacy of the GCC states, Al Kharousi highlighted, stating that this would help preserve national memory as well as the cultural identity of the peoples of the region.
An expo held alongside the symposium features archaeological artifacts discovered in Oman, scientific publications on history and heritage, a chronological timeline of the Sultanate of Oman, and a tourist information center. (QNA)
