Doha, August 22 (QNA) - Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) of the Ministry of Sports and Youth (MSY) wrapped up its summer scientific camp held under the theme "Pioneers of Science and Technology".

Throughout the weeks-long camp, plenty of scientific and technological activities and workshops were held, alongside creative projects that drew broad participation from young people of both genders.

This was obviously part of QSC's efforts to capitalize on the summer break by honing young people's skills and promoting their predilection for science and technology, as well as innovation and literally turning their innovative ideas into concrete projects and models.

The move aligns with QSC's strategic objectives and MSY's thrust toward youth empowerment and supporting the domains of learning, research and innovation.

In collaboration with the Public Works Authority, the club implemented the fifth "Future Engineer" program, bringing together 40 young people, which resulted in six outstanding ventures, including reducing power consumption, protecting workers while performing works, monitoring excavation operations, drainage, smart cities and enhancing the efficiency of preventive maintenance.

In addition, QSC, in collaboration with the Qatar Society of Engineers, organized the two-week second Summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM 2026) Program, with the participation of 40 young people, resulting in several creative projects.

In the domain of AI, QSC organized the second Summer Data Camp 2026 in cooperation with the National Planning Council and Microsoft, bringing together 37 participants. The outgrowth was seven projects inspired by the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.

These comprised the areas of education, population growth, and accessibility to health care within the pillar of human development, as well as sports utilities and traffic safety within the pillar of social development, and so forth.

As part of the camp activities, the first phase of the "Young Inventors" program was implemented, with 34 participants.

The second phase of the program is set to begin on Sunday, Aug. 23, to continue developing their ideas and projects and turn them into more mature prototypes and outputs.

The Makerspace Department organized seven main workshops, benefiting 84 participants, in addition to providing technical, technological and logistical support for a number of collaborative programs with partner entities.

The workshops covered emerging technologies, including digital fabrication using 3D printing and its applications in education, medicine, manufacturing and the arts, as well as artificial intelligence.

They were also centered on digital fabrication skills using computer numerical control (CNC) technology, part design, converting digital designs into manufacturing instructions, and practical projects.

In the automotive mechanics section, QSC conducted six specialized training workshops, in addition to organizing a car repair challenge, with 74 participants. The workshops covered a range of practical topics.

The promising innovator section held 12 training workshops covering a range of scientific and technological fields, benefiting 840 participants.

The workshops featured mind sports and a creative minds challenge, designed to develop focus, mental agility and creative thinking skills, as well as a STEM journey to space program.

Through the program, participants explored the components of Earth's atmosphere, indicators of life and physical phenomena associated with the planet, while using Arduino and sensors to collect and analyze atmospheric data.

During the "From Idea to Smart Prototype" program, participants became well-versed in the stages of taking ideas from concept to prototype, advancing interactive projects, and designing and programming smart devices, 3D models and robots.

The club also conducted an array of lectures and training workshops for youth centers and clubs on AI and its applications, led by in-the-know Qatari trainers.

Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at QSC, Fatima Al Mohannadi, remarked that the club was pretty capable of achieving its success indicators throughout this summer break, whether in terms of the number of participants, achieving the program's set objectives, or through projects they implemented by thinking outside the box throughout the camp period.

The club, Al Mohannadi noted, also pulled off success in terms of youth empowerment and qualifying young leaders wielding practical expertise, in addition to building a supportive environment for innovation and thinking outside the box.

The diversity of programs and partnerships the camp featured manifestly underscores the club's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for young people, Al Mohannadi underlined.

She suggested that this environment combines knowledge, experience, application and innovation and helps prepare a generation that is pretty capable of keeping up with scientific and technological developments, as well as powerfully engaging in the path toward national development. (QNA)
