Riyadh, August 20 (QNA) - The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) discussed Thursday, with the People's Republic of China, the Iranian attacks on its member states and the repercussions of these attacks on the security and stability of the region.

Held at the Council's headquarter in Riyadh, the meeting which was attended by senior GCC officials and representatives from the foreign ministries of member states, discussed cooperation and ways to develop it within the framework of the Joint Action Plan for the period (2023-2027).

They also exchanged views on the future of Gulf-Chinese relations and a number of regional political and security issues, most notably the security of maritime routes and navigation, energy security, and combating terrorism.

The statement further explained that the meeting comes within the framework of the strategic bilateral partnership and is an extension of the outcomes of the first Gulf-Chinese Summit held in Riyadh in 2022.

It noted that both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to achieve common interests, continuing dialogue and coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern, and supporting efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region. (QNA)
