Doha, August 02 (QNA) - Qatar's General Tax Authority (GTA) has launched the Global and Domestic Minimum Tax (Pillar Two) Registration Service through the Dhareeba platform, as part of efforts to align the country's tax system with international standards.

The GTA said multinational enterprise (MNE) groups that fall within the scope of the rules must complete their initial registration within three months of the service's launch.

The online service allows eligible groups to submit core information, identify their Ultimate Parent Entity (UPE), and designate the local entities subject to the Pillar Two rules. Where more than one entity operates in Qatar, a single local entity must be appointed as the primary point of contact.

The launch follows the implementation of Law No. (22) of 2024, which established Qatar's legislative framework for the Global and Domestic Minimum Tax under the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework's Pillar Two rules. The framework introduces a global minimum effective tax rate of 15% for multinational enterprise groups with consolidated annual revenues of at least €750m ($866m) in at least two of the four fiscal years preceding the tested fiscal year.

The GTA said the initiative reinforces Qatar's commitment to transparency, fairness and protecting its domestic tax base, while strengthening its position as a competitive destination for international investment. (QNA)
