Berlin-Paris, August 19 (QNA) - Germany and France called out remarks made Wednesday by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in which he called for conducting daily methodical killings in the Gaza Strip.
The German government decried these remarks as running contrary to humanity and international law. Speaking at a press conference, German Deputy Government Spokesman Sebastian Helle said Ben-Gvir's inhumane calls, which run afoul of international law, are unacceptable, citing the recent European Summit's move to prepare specific measures against political extremists. Helle added that this matter will be further discussed during the upcoming unofficial meeting of the bloc's foreign ministers scheduled for early September.
French Minister for Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot denounced these remarks, stressing that what is happening today in the West Bank was reprehensible. Barrot further said that this was the reason for imposing sanctions on Ben-Gvir, whose recent remarks have become unbearable and inhumane. He didn't rule out further sanctions on Israeli settlers following recent breaches in the West Bank.
During an interview with local media outlets, Ben-Gvir called for carrying out systematic killings in the Gaza Strip, saying that between 30 and 40 Palestinians should be killed daily. (QNA)
