Edinburgh, August 17 (QNA) - The Scottish Football Association has appointed Belgian Sebastien Pocognoli as the new head coach of the national team, succeeding Steve Clarke.

In a statement Sunday, the association said the 39-year-old Belgian has signed a two-year contract and will lead the Scotland national team, ranked 42nd in the world, in the next UEFA Nations League campaign at League B level, which kicks off in September.

It added that Pocognoli, the former head coach of French club Monaco, will succeed Clarke, who resigned in July following Scotland’s group-stage exit from the 2026 World Cup.

Pocognoli said he and his coaching staff will do everything in their power to give Scottish fans a national team they can be proud of. (QNA)
