Doha, August 16 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation (QF) welcomed Sunday more than 800 newly enrolled students at Education City universities during "Marhaba", the QF-organized annual welcome event heralding the commencement of the new academic year.

The event took place at Multaqa (Education City Student Center) was intended to familiarize them with Education City and the resources and opportunities it offers to help hone their academic, social and personal skills.

President of Higher Education and Education Advisor at QF Dr. Francisco Marmolejo said those new students have become part of a unique community that brings together students hailing from a range of majors, cultures and backgrounds, a community that provides an integrated educational environment that endows them with learning, collaboration and exchange of expertise.

Education City isn't merely a group of international universities, but a combined system where students interact with their teachers and with one another, Marmolejo underlined, stating that this would significantly strengthen opportunities for learning, as well as knowledge and cultural exchange.

Marmolejo added that the diversity that characterizes this city is one of its foremost strengths, as it provides engineers, artists, future doctors, policymakers, entrepreneurs, scientists, educators and innovators with opportunities to collaborate and share ideas, making the educational experience there a unique one.

He called on students to undertake a powerful role in QF's community and beyond, pointing out that success is not confined to academic distinction, but rather encompasses personal growth and honing leadership skills, in addition to preserving psychological health and contributing to serving society.

In addition, Marmolejo urged students to think outside the box, capitalize on the opportunities offered by the City inside and outside lecture halls, and forge humanitarian and occupational relationships that help shape their future experiences and leave a positive footprint in their society.

QF's higher education system has, over more than three decades, graduated more than 12,000 students from Education City universities, offering them opportunities to study within a single educational system that brings together a number of world-class universities. (QNA)
