Doha, August 15 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering persons with disabilities in the labor market, strengthening the private sector's role in driving Qatar's inclusive and sustainable development.

HE Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani said this approach is gaining increasing importance, particularly as Qatar prepares to host the Fourth Global Disability Summit 2028 in Doha.

He commended Qatar's ongoing efforts to advance the rights of persons with disabilities, empower them, and promote their effective inclusion across all areas of society.

HE Sheikh Khalifa emphasized that hosting the 2028 Summit reflects Qatar's firm commitment to promoting equal opportunities and reinforces its position as a leading global partner in human development.

By helping align international visions and launching high-impact initiatives, Qatar seeks to safeguard dignity and transform disability-related challenges into meaningful opportunities for investment in human capital at both the national and international levels, he said.

His Excellency stressed that the Qatari private sector is a key partner in efforts to integrate and empower persons with disabilities, citing the importance of establishing an integrated ecosystem that extends beyond hiring. This includes comprehensive training and rehabilitation, skills development, workplace accessibility, human resources readiness, and ongoing support to ensure long-term, sustainable employment.

"The Chamber has adopted several initiatives aimed at developing the skills and capabilities of people with disabilities.

This reflects a significant shift from traditional support and care toward a more comprehensive approach focused on economic empowerment, capacity building, sustainable employment, and enabling persons with disabilities to actively contribute to the national development process," His Excellency added.

HE the Chairman of Qatar Chamber also highlighted the Chamber's commitment to strengthening cooperation with relevant organizations, including the Volunteer Initiative for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities to bridge communication between these entities and private-sector companies.

He emphasized the importance of raising awareness on providing suitable job opportunities, leveraging the capabilities and skills of people with disabilities, and encouraging companies to build more inclusive and sustainable work environments. (QNA)
