Lekhwiya Delegation Takes Part in Egypt's Search and Rescue Team Classification Ceremony
Doha, August 15 (QNA) - A delegation from the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) participated in a ceremony held to announce that the Search and Rescue Team of the General Directorate of Civil Protection at the Ministry of Interior of the Arab Republic of Egypt had obtained international classification at the "Medium" level from the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), affiliated with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The delegation was headed by Lekhwiya Assistant Commander for Administration and Supply Staff Brigadier Mubarak Sherida Al Kaabi.
This achievement reflects the outcomes of joint cooperation in the field of search and rescue, with the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group contributing to the training and qualification of the Egyptian team in accordance with approved international standards.
Accordingly, the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group became the first Arab international team to train and qualify another Arab team to achieve international classification.
The ceremony was attended by Assistant Minister of Interior of Egypt for the civil protection sector Major General Amr Mustafa El-Baily, along with a number of security leaders from both sides and representatives of the INSARAG.
On the sidelines of the announcement ceremony, Lekhwiya Assistant Commander for Administration and Supply Staff Brigadier Mubarak Sherida Al Kaabi met with Assistant Minister of Interior of Egypt for the civil protection sector Major General Amr Mustafa El-Baily.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of joint cooperation in the fields of security training and search and rescue, and discussed ways to further enhance and develop this cooperation.
The Egyptian Assistant Minister of Interior commended the prominent role of the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group, as an internationally accredited mentor, in training and qualifying the Egyptian team to obtain international certification.
He also emphasized the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the two sides in strengthening the joint Arab search and rescue system. (QNA)
