Saudi Basketball Team Begins Preparatory Camp in Doha for International Friendly Tournament
Doha, August 15 (QNA) - The Saudi senior national basketball team delegation has arrived in Doha on Saturday to begin its preparatory camp and participate in the international friendly tournament "3 Nations Friendly Games," featuring Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.
Organized by Qatar Basketball Federation, the competition will be staged from August 20 to 22.
The organization of this tournament comes as part of the three teams’ preparations for the upcoming events, most notably the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers (Qatar 2027), and participation in the Asian Games "Aichi-Nagoya 2026" in Japan.
Saudi Arabia's participation comes as part of its preparation program for the upcoming phase, particularly the next window of the FIBA Asia Qualifiers for the Basketball World Cup 2027.
The coaching staff of the "Green Falcons" aims to capitalize on their stay in Doha by playing strong, closely scheduled matches to enhance technical and physical readiness and assess player performance ahead of official commitments.
Meanwhile, the Bahraini national team delegation will arrive in Doha on August 19, 2026, one day before the tournament begins. Bahrain will face both Qatar and Saudi Arabia as part of the final stage of its preparation program.
The team seeks to maximize readiness before entering the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, with the matches against Qatar and Saudi Arabia providing valuable tests for the coaching staff.
The three-day tournament will open with Qatar facing Bahrain on August 20. On August 21, Bahrain will meet Saudi Arabia, before the competition concludes on August 22, with the highly anticipated clash between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. (QNA)
