Madrid, August 15 (QNA) - A 5.0-magnitude earthquake on Saturday struck the city of Granada in Spain's southern region of Andalusia, causing material damage but no reported injuries.
Posting on X, Vice-President of the Andalusian regional government, Antonio Sanz Cabello said that local authorities have declared a state of emergency, stressing that damage assessments and on-the-ground monitoring were continuing.
Residents felt the tremor across wide areas of Andalusia, including Malaga, Almeria, Cordoba, and parts of Jaen.
Images broadcast by Spanish media showed debris scattered across the streets, as well as damage to several vehicles and buildings.
Emergency services received more than 200 reports concerning property damage and panic among residents. (QNA)
