Jakarta, August 15 (QNA) - At least two people were killed and another injured after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off the coast of eastern Indonesia early Saturday.

Indonesia's National Agency for Disaster Management said two people were killed and another injured in Sikka Regency. Local sources said patients were evacuated from a hospital in Ende, in East Nusa Tenggara province.

The Indonesian Geophysics Agency said dozens of aftershocks were recorded off the country's eastern coast, while tsunami waves of less than one meter were recorded in several areas.

The Australian Tsunami Warning Center said the undersea earthquake posed no tsunami threat to mainland Australia, its islands or territories.

The quake struck off Flores Island at a depth of 15 kilometers and was followed by several aftershocks. (QNA)
