Seoul, September 20 (QNA) - North Korea launched two missiles toward its eastern coast on Sunday, marking its second test in about a week and coming just days after Pyongyang accused the United States of stoking tensions on the Korean Peninsula by participating in a series of military drills.

South Korea's Ministry of Defense reported that North Korea fired another unspecified projectile just three hours after launching a short-range ballistic missile toward the East Sea (the Sea of Japan) earlier in the day.

The ministry stated that the first projectile, identified as a Hwasong-11 type, flew a distance of approximately 450 kilometers. No flight details for the second projectile have been released yet.

According to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, as reported by the Yonhap News Agency, the launch was detected from the Wonsan area and confirmed to be a ballistic missile test.

Intelligence authorities in South Korea and the United States have been monitoring and sharing related information since the initial launch phase, and have also exchanged relevant data with Japan, the Joint Chiefs said.

Meanwhile, Japan's Ministry of Defense stated that North Korea launched what appeared to be a ballistic missile. Japan's national broadcaster, NHK, reported that the projectile landed outside Japan's exclusive economic zone. (QNA)
