Islamabad, August 12 (QNA) - Pakistan on Wednesday reiterated its commitment to dialogue and diplomacy to promote peace and stability in the Gulf and the Middle East.
A statement by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it would bend every effort to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table, noting that it is continuing extensive engagement with the relevant parties amid ongoing regional tensions.
The Ministry considered that the Memorandum of Understanding reached in Islamabad had paved the way for peace and stability, noting that it may not have been fully implemented and that there remained an opportunity for the parties to return to negotiations.
The Ministry asserted that it would continue using direct and indirect channels to mitigate the impact of parties obstructing peace efforts and to facilitate constructive dialogue on outstanding issues.
It should be noted that only five days remain before the expiration of the Washington-Tehran ceasefire deal, which was set to last for two months, amid efforts to extend the agreement for another period in the hope of advancing peace negotiations and restoring de-escalation in the Middle East.
