Doha, August 10 (QNA) - General Manager of Msheireb Museums Abdulla Khalid Al Naama, affirmed that the museums seek to serve as a platform for the cultural and artistic activity taking place in society and to provide artists, researchers and the artistic community with opportunities to contribute to the narratives presented by the museums, thereby strengthening communication between generations and connecting museum content with the issues and transformations experienced by society.

In exclusive remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of a panel discussion held this evening as part of the group exhibition Sawaed, organized by Msheireb Museums at Bin Jelmood House, Al Naama said the exhibition, which has been extended until Aug. 15 instead of ending Aug. 11, reflected the diversity of artistic experiences and styles within Qatar's visual arts scene.

He noted that the concept for the exhibition originated from the narrative of Company House at Msheireb Museums and its story of the pioneers of work and achievement in society, alongside a statement by the late HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, emphasizing that people were the true wealth.

He said that this concept was presented to the participating artists, who were given the freedom to express it according to their individual visions and artistic styles, resulting in a diverse range of experiences and works on display.

Four artists representing different artistic schools participated in the panel discussion: Ismail Azzam, Nasser Al Attiya, Amal Al Atheem and Maryam Al Mulla. Artist Mohammed Al Hammadi was the session's moderator.

Artist Ismail Azzam spoke about his experience creating a work depicting the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, while Nasser Al Attiya discussed the concept of investing in people, explaining that he reflected the idea in his work through a surrealist approach combining the past and present and incorporating symbols associated with oil.

For her part, Amal Al Atheem presented an experimental mural evoking the hands that contributed to building society, whether through work at sea or during the oil era, using a composition representing interconnected generations and paths. Maryam Al Mulla said that through her Cubist style, she seeks to convey Qatar's heritage and identity to the world.

The participants also discussed the role of cultural and artistic institutions, including Qatar Museums and other cultural organizations, in supporting the art movement and promoting Qatar internationally. They stressed the importance of presenting works that reflect the level of creativity achieved by Qatari artists and the country's cultural standing.

The Sawaed exhibition, through contemporary artworks, provides a space for reflection on an idea that is simple at its core yet profound in its meaning.

The exhibition features works by artists Ahmed Nooh, Ismail Azzam, Amal Al Atheem, Hayan Manwar, Aisha Al Sulaiti, Fatima Al Shebani, Fatima Al Nuaimi, Mubarak Al Malik, Mohammed Al Hammadi, Maryam Al Mulla, Nasser Al Attiya, Hala Al Jafari and Hanadi Al Darwish, under the curatorial supervision of artist Bashir Mohammed.
