New York, August 10 (QNA) - The United Nations said it is monitoring developments in Colombia following a 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the country earlier Monday.
UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq said communications in rural areas were limited, with reports of structural damage, including collapsed homes, but no confirmed casualty figures were yet available.
The government has begun precautionary evacuations and is leading damage and casualty assessments.
The UN said it stands ready to provide assistance as needed.
Local authorities earlier reported at least 20 deaths, with others still trapped under collapsed buildings. (QNA)
